Catherine Abbey Hodges is the author of Instead of Sadness, winner of the 2015 Barry Spacks Poetry Prize from Gunpowder Press, and Raft of Days (Gunpowder Press, 2017), as well as the chapbooks A Spell for What Comes Next (Miramar Editions, 2018) and All the While (Finishing Line Press, 2006). Her poems appear widely in venues including The Southern ReviewTar River Poetry, MiramarThe American Journal of Poetry, Connotation PressCider Press Review, SWWIM, and Chicago Quarterly Review. They’ve been anthologized, featured on The Writer’s Almanac  and Verse Daily, and nominated for Pushcarts and Best of the Net.

Catherine has twice been named Faculty of the Year at Porterville College, where her composition, literature, and creative writing students keep her awake and amazed. A founding member of the Tulare County Poet Project, she co-coordinates California Poets in the Schools for Tulare County, serves as a Teacher-Consultant for the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project, and collaborates with her husband, musician and labyrinth-maker Rob Hodges.
